Gillis is visiting markets like Boulder, Seattle, Portland and Chicago for the next month-and-a-half, starting off with an already sold-out show at Hattiesburg, Miss., pub The Thirsty Hippo June 26.

Other shows include the 450-capacity Belly Up in Aspen, Colo., July 12 and the 475-capacity Sugar Nightclub in Victoria, British Columbia, along with visits to the Citi Stage, after Saul Williams, at Lollapalooza August 3 and the All Points West Festival in New Jersey August 8.

Gillis is known for setting musical hits to different beats but, unlike a nightclub DJ, he uses a laptop computer, inserts the music into the back-beat on the fly, and encourages a party atmosphere, with half of the audience onstage with him.

Gillis is offering a “pay what you want plan” for his new album, Feed the Animals, now available for download at IllegalArt.net.

Any price grants the download of the entire album as high-quality 320kbps mp3s;$5 or more adds the options of FLAC files and a one-file seamless mix of the album and$10 or more includes all of the above, plus a packaged CD when it becomes available.
