Dex Romweber is a musician’s musician – proven by the recent edition of a duets album. Romweber is expected to release an album that will feature him singing with Cat Power, Neko Case and Exene Cervenka.

Romweber is the former frontman of Flat Duo Jets and has released nine solo albums since 1990. He’s also one of the stars of the 1987 documentary “Athens, GA Inside Out” alongside R.E.M. and The B-52’s.

In July, the Dex Romweber Duo is hitting the road. At his side is another icon of sorts, sister Sara Romweber, who played drums in the ’80s band Lets Active that had several ties to music of the era (frontman Mitch Easter produced R.E.M.’s Murmur and the band’s Lynn Blakely inspired The Replacements’ “Left of the Dial”).

They first go to Mansion 462 in Chapel Hill, N.C., July 11 and hit 14 places in 15 days, wrapping at the Pilot Light in Knoxville, Tenn., July 26. Cities include Columbus, Ohio; Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Rockford, Ill.; Kansas City; St. Louis, Indianapolis, Little Rock and Memphis.
