Calm After The Storm

Live Nation’s Roberto de Luca was no doubt relieved that there was no repeat of the whirlwind that injured 25 people and blew away the 2007 Heineken Jammin Festival.

Apart from Italy being dumped out of the European soccer finals by Spain, which the crowd at Venice’s San Giuliano Park watched on huge screens, the event passed without incident or natural disaster.

Last year more than 20,000 people had arrived at the site when freak winds blew down eight light and sound towers and damaged the stage. It was the first year the event would have been staged in Venice, having previously been staged at a 60,000-capacity site on the Formula One Grand Prix motor racing track at Imola.

The acts enjoying the calm after the storm June 20-22 included The Police, Vasco Rossi, Linkin Park, Queens Of The Stone Age, Iggy & The Stooges, Counting Crows, Sex Pistols and Alanis Morissette.
