Carlos Connects With Budapest

The 250,000-plus crowd that saw Carlos Santana play Budapest’s special June 28 Connection Day celebration may have been as big as the one Sting played in 2004.

"There were between 250,000 and 300,000 but I don’t know if it was a record or not, to be honest," said Marton Brady of Showtime Budapest, which promotes the annual gathering in Heroes Square.

"We’ve moved the stage position and completely changed the configuration of the site since then and, as it’s a free event, it’s hard to make an exact comparison – it certainly looked as busy."

Showtime’s next events are Seal at Budapest Petofi Hall Open Air (July 15) and Paul Anka at Papp László Budapest Sportarena (August 5).
