Fan Stabbed At T In The Park

A 22-year-old man is in intensive care after reportedly being stabbed 11 times at Scotland’s T In The Park Festival.

He’s believed to be in a serious but stable condition after trying to protect a female friend.

Police are hunting two men they believe were responsible for the attack, which occurred at 12:40 a.m. July 13.

In a separate tragic incident, a 32-year-old man was found dead in his tent at the festival site. He’s believed to have suffered a chronic asthma attack.

Police confirmed he was found by friends at about 11:50 a.m. also on July 13 and that the death was caused by a medical condition.

Police told local media the stabbing victim had tried to intervene when two male suspects accosted one of his female friends.

WIth 80,000 fans leaving the Balado site, it may be difficult to track down the attackers, but police have already circulated good descriptions of the men and are hopeful of finding some good forensic evidence at the scene.

One suspect is described as white, aged 20-24, and slim with short brown hair. He is thought to have been wearing a green or yellow jacket.

The second man is described as being white and stocky with short, brown receding hair. He was wearing a red hooded top or jacket.

The victim, who hasn’t been named, suffered eight wounds to the body and three to the head.

It wasn’t possible for Pollstar to get comment from festival promoter Geoff Ellis at press time, but he reportedly told NME that the stabbing made him "despondent."

"Does it cast a cloud over the festival? Well, as serious as it is, it is an isolated incident, and we’ve had a really well-behaved festival here so far," he said.

"Unfortunately, we’re seeing things like this in today’s society today. It seems to be on the rise in general. The security here is really robust – we’ve got a big fence around the site, for example, but it’d be foolish to say that it’s impossible to get illegal things [such as weapons] into the site."

The event itself reportedly a huge success, with R.E.M., Kings Of Leon, Rage Against The Machine, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, The Raconteurs, Counting Crows, KT Tunstall and Panic! At The Disco among the acts playing to a capacity crowd July 10-13.
