No Bowl Of Cherries For Bregovic

Top Serbian singer/songwriter Goran Bregovic was forced to cancel several shows including his headline appearance at Volt Festival after reportedly falling out of a tree while picking cherries in his back yard.

Volt booker Dan Panaitescu got Hungarian band The Hooligans to fill the slot while Bregovic, who has been a household name in the Balkans for more than three decades, recovers from a back injury.

The 16th staging of the 20,000-capacity event in the beautiful medieval Austro-Hungarian border town of Sopron, about 30 miles from Vienna and 40 from Bratislava, was sold out for the second year running.

The acts on the July 2-5 bill included The Offspring, Dreadzone, Manu Chao, Clawfinger, Cypress Hill, Roni Size Reprazent, The Exploited, Nouvelle Vague, Tiga and Señor Coconut.
