We Come To Dance
Both bands will spend late summer in Europe making festival appearances, with Cut Copy dropping in on Festival Sudoeste in Portugal and Creamfields in the U.K. and The Presets playing a quartet of U.K. gigs at The Edge Festival, V Festival (Chelmsford and Staffordshire) and Creamfields.
Cut Copy will precede the co-headlining jaunt with a short run through Mexico, stopping in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, a trip the band said will also allow them “to pick up sweet outfits for the traditional post-gig wrestling match with The Presets.”
The Aussie dance invasion launches September 13 at Monolith Festival at Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver and will hit clubs and theatres across the U.S. and Canada through early October.
Lucky venues on the hit list include The Record Bar in Kansas City, Mo. (September 15), Metro/Smart Bar in Chicago (September 17), Webster Hall in New York City (September 21-22), 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. (September 26), Granada Theater in Dallas (September 30), Mezzanine in San Francisco (October 5) and Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver (October 9).
A special soon-to-be-announced guest will join the duo for the duration of the tour.
Tickets for some shows are available at Ticketmaster.com, with others going on sale over the coming days.
Cut Copy hails from Melbourne and was founded in 2001 by DJ and graphic designer Dan Whitford.
Since releasing its 2004 debut full-length the band has toured extensively with acts like Franz Ferdinand, Junior Senior, Bloc Party, Mylo and Daft Punk.
In Ghost Colors, Cut Copy’s sophomore effort, was released in March.
Here’s the video for the group’s latest single, a new mix of “Hearts On Fire.”
Sydney-based duo The Presets came together in 2003. The band released its debut full-length, Beams, in 2005 to much acclaim from the dance music community in Australia, the U.K. and eventually the U.S.
After spending much of the next three years on the road making audiences sweat at home and abroad, the pair rewarded fans with a new album, Apocalypso, in April.
The clip for The Presets’ latest single, the insanely catchy “This Boy’s in Love,” begs the question, “Got Milk?”
