DMX was indicted by a grand jury on felony charges in Arizona July 23 after allegedly skipping out on a $7,500 medical bill by giving a false name and Social Security number to a hospital.
He was charged with one count of theft and one count of taking someone else’s identity.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, checked in to Scottsdale’s Mayo Clinic in April with the name "Troy Jones" and failed to pay his bill. He was treated for a bout of pneumonia, according to E! Online.
DMX was arrested at a Phoenix mall July 19 and released from jail the next night.
Arpaio said his office investigated the charge following DMX’s run-in with the law last year regarding an alleged animal neglect at the rapper’s north Phoenix home. DMX was arrested and charged with felony drug possession and misdemeanor animal cruelty after authorities seized 12 pit bull dogs and dug up the remains of three others.
In early July, the 37-year-old performer was arrested at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court. The previous week, he was arrested in Miami on charges of attempting to purchase cocaine and marijuana.
E! online noted it was his fifth arrest in the past three months.
