Construction Slows In Margaritaville

Harrah’s Entertainment announced July 22 that construction is slowing on its Margaritaville Casino & Resort in Biloxi, Miss., which had been expected to open in 2010, because of the national economy and market conditions on the Gulf Coast.

A statement issued by Harrah’s didn’t provide a new completion date but said there will be less activity and fewer workers at the Jimmy Buffett-themed beachfront site.

The $700 million project, which began construction last year, is set to include a 420-room hotel with an outdoor shopping village, casino, meeting and convention space, ballroom and restaurants.
