Garden Grows At Angouleme

The second edition of Radical Productions’ Garden Nef Festival showed the event already has the green shoots of growth as the average daily attendance at the French event was up by 2,000.

Radical chief Christophe Davy, aka "Doudou," said he believes the market has room for the mix of mid-range international acts and emerging talent he’s presenting at Angouleme (about 100 kilometres north of Bordeaux) and was encouraged that it attracted 18,000 over the July 18-19 weekend.

If growth continues at the current rate, it won’t be long before Garden Nef – at least in terms of size – stands alongside other respected French boutique festivals like Les Mediterraneennes and La Route Du Rock.

The acts enjoying a warm weekend in the garden included Iggy & the Stooges, The Raconteurs, Justice, The Hives, The Kills, Simian Mobile Disco and Brian Jonestown Massacre.
