Mann Center Holdup

A recent robbery at Philadelphia’s Mann Center for Performing Arts that took place during a Hippiefest concert happened in a non-public concession area, a spokeswoman told Pollstar.

Two armed robbers reportedly wrapped their faces in T-shirts from Ovations, the event caterer, to mask their identities. They demanded cash from workers and fled with about $11,000, police said.

While the spokeswoman said she couldn’t comment on the ongoing investigation, police have reportedly begun questioning current and former employees of the catering company.

An initial report from a local Fox News affiliate called the holdup "daring" and said it occurred as fans "exited" the concert. A police spokesman told Fox 29 the thieves walked out with the crowd. The Associated Press picked up the story.

However, along with the robbery taking place in a non-public area, the venue spokeswoman also stressed this was the first occurrence of a crime in the Mann’s 33-year history.
