Williams will launch the first wave of his comic assault, the Weapons of Self-Destruction Tour, September 25 at Northrup Auditorium in Minneapolis and spend the next two months hitting theatres on the East Coast, in the Midwest and in Canada.

Targets include The Chicago Theatre in Chicago (September 26-27), Fox Theatre in Detroit (October 3), Taft Theatre in Cincinnati (October 11), Landmark Theatre in Richmond, Va. (October 16), Lyric Opera House in Baltimore (October 23), Tower Theater in Philadelphia (October 29-31), Scotiabank Place in Ottawa (November 19) and Orpheum Theatre in Boston (November 24-25).

Additional dates are expected.

Tickets go on sale beginning August 8 through links at RobinWilliams.com. Meet and greet packages and premium packages are also available.

Williams last toured in 2002, when he returned to stand-up after a sixteen year hiatus, grossing more than $14 million according to Pollstar data.

As for why he’s headed out again – well, if you pay attention to current events at all, that should be obvious.

“It’s an election year, which is basically Christmas for stand-up comics,” Williams said. “And I figured I should get my ass on the road while the Shrub is still in office.

“A lot has happened in the world and in my life since I last did this six years ago and there’s no better thrill and no better therapy than getting on that high-wire in front of a live audience.”
