India.Arie’s Broadway debut is on hold because the show lost one of its backers, producers Whoopi Goldberg and Dream Team Entertainment Group announced July 30.

The singer was to star in a revival of the 1975 stage play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf."

The play was scheduled to open September 8.
