It’s Leiweke’s Galaxy

When AEG chief Tim Leiweke talks, people listen.

Especially the Los Angeles Galaxy, which announced that coach Ruud Gullit and president Alexi Lalas have left the team.

The news comes on the heels of a 7-game losing streak and reports that Leiweke made a personal visit to the MSL team’s locker room and issued a two-week ultimatum to turn things around. The Galaxy then lost to the San Jose Earthquakes.

Lalas, a veteran player and coach, will be replaced by Tom Payne, the team’s assistant GM, according to the Los Angeles Times.

One of Lalas’s 1994 World Cup teammates, Cobi Jones, will take over coaching duties from Gullit.
