Ashton has been a mainstay on the festival scene, and his project has opened up for acts like STS9, Disco Biscuits, and The String Cheese Incident. This time out, he’s visiting venues from August through November with plenty of collaborators, which is part of Bassnectar’s appeal.

Helping hands include Beats Antique, Fort Knox Five, Seasunz and other artists from the U.K. and North America.

Ashton and his team describe his music as an “electronic music freedom project,” “omni-tempo maximalism,” an “experimentally collaborative music project,” a “platform for social change and political awareness” and “an eclectic, full spectrum adventure.”

In other words, it’s fun to dance to and the techno-based show will include some rap and visuals by Videolicious, Android Jones and iLL Gates.

The tour kicks off at the Shambala Music Festival in Salmo, British Columbia, August 10, then visits the Greek Theatre in Ashton’s hometown of Berkeley, Calif., August 16. Other major shows include Red Rocks Amphitheatre September 6, Newby’s in Memphis October 9 and Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia November 6.
