Jay-Z To Reopen Palladium

Hip hop heavyweight and industry mogul Jay-Z will be the first artist to play the renovated Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

The October 15 show will see Jay-Z, backed by a 12-piece band, performing on a stage that has hosted acts including The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Metallica, Public Enemy, Sex Pistols, Red Hot Chili Peppers and No Doubt.

Tickets go on sale September 5.

Live Nation, which operates the Hollywood Palladium, said the goal of restoring the venerable 4,000-capacity venue was to return it to its condition on opening night in 1940, when it featured a performance by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and an up-and-coming singer named Frank Sinatra.

Renovations include the entire interior and exterior, with a new dance floor, a new façade and other changes modeled after the building’s original design.
