Whole Lotta Cuts
Olympic Games organizers insisted on a few cuts to Led Zeppelin‘s classic “Whole Lotta Love” before it was performed by Leona Lewis during the August 24 closing ceremony, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The bosses of the sporting spectacular reportedly felt the track, which “X Factor” winner Lewis performed with Led Zep guitarist Jimmy Page, was too long.
But it seems the Olympic chiefs also insisted on lyrics changes.
The line that goes, “Way, way down inside honey, you need it” was determined a little risqué for the millions watching the ceremony on TV and was dropped, the paper said.
Officials in London, who are tasked with organizing the 2012 Olympics, say Lewis asked that the words of the third verse be changed from “I’m gonna give you every inch of my love” to “every bit of my love” because the original doesn’t make sense for a female singer.
