Cafe Tacuba Leads Latin Grammys

Mexican alternative rock group Cafe Tacuba scored six Latin Grammy nominations Wednesday, including album of the year, the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences announced in Los Angeles.

The group’s “Sino” album also was nominated as best alternative album; its single, “Volver a Comenzar,” was nominated as record of the year and best alternative song.

Earning five nominations was Colombian rocker Juanes, including his “La Vida … Es Un Ratico” as album of the year and best male pop album.

Puerto Rican pop singer Kanny Garcia, a relative newcomer, received four nominations, including album of the year and best female pop album for “Cualquier Dia.”

The Latin Grammys will be held in Houston Nov. 13.
