The Vero Beach Police Department arrested the comedian on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after they were alerted by an anonymous tipster that a plane would be landing at the city’s airport with a passenger carrying drugs.

According to the Treasure Coast Palm, White told officials the marijuana, which was less than 3 grams, was for medicinal purposes but was unable to produce a prescription.

He was booked at the Indian River County Jail shortly after 6 p.m. that day and released about two hours later on $1,000 bail.

The comedian and his plane were involved in another incident earlier this year that is currently being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration, according to Atlanta’s WSBTV Channel 2.

Pilots who were flying the plane claim White endangered the safety of passengers and crew when he became drunk and enraged after the private aircraft was diverted to a different airport than the one where it was originally scheduled to land.

A lawyer for the comedian told the station the pilots filed the claim because they were disgruntled after being fired.

One of White’s most famous routines includes a joke about being booked into a Texas jail under the alias “Tater Salad.”
