A new Web site hopes to smooth out some of the rough edges inherent in the nightclub scene and make it easier for artists and bands looking to grab an off night at a club, or the opening slot on a four-band bill.

It’s called GigMaven, a do-it-yourself site where clubs include descriptions of their rooms and artists and bands try to raise some interest among bookers. Think of it as a “Craigslist” of sorts for clubs and talent, a perfect place for clubs and bands to find each other. Especially for those last-minute bookings.

Then there’s the communication angle. GigMaven promises to eliminate the endless phone-tag sessions and volumes of e-mail that often come with the nightclub territory.

Which clubs are using GigMaven? Clubs like The Knitting Factory and Arlene’s Grocery in New York City, Middle East in Cambridge, Mass., and Park Street Tavern in Columbus, Ohio, as well as clubs in Denver, Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Indianapolis. What’s more, 1,200 artists and bands have signed up for GigMaven, giving club bookers plenty of choices for filling their event calendars.

Currently in beta, GigMaven plans an October launch. When you absolutely need to fill an opening immediately, GigMaven could very well be your ticket to immediate satisfaction.

“GigMaven helps musicians and live music venues find each other in a fast and efficient manner,” said company CEO Howard Han. “We want to help musicians and venues and ultimately make their lives easier.”
