Janet Released

Janet Jackson was released Sept. 29 from a Montreal hospital two hours after she was admitted for an “unknown illness.”

The performer suddenly became ill during sound check and was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, according to her publicist. The concert at Bell Centre was canceled, and tour stops in Boston Oct. 1 and Philadelphia Oct. 2 were postponed.

There was no word at press time whether those shows might be rescheduled. Jackson, who is touring North America for the first time in seven years, is expected to resume her schedule Oct. 4 in Greensboro, N.C.
