Fishing In The Same Sea
Germany’s two major concert promoters’ associations are rumoured to be merging, although neither side has commented.
Verband Der Deutschen Konzertdirektionen (VDKD), which was founded in 1946 and has 240 members that work mainly in the classical music field, is believed to have ratified the move at its August meeting in Nuremburg.
Hamburg-based lawyer Jens Michow, who heads Der Bundesverband der Veranstaltungswirtschaft (IDKV), which was founded in 1985 and has 230 members working in the contemporary live music business, was also reluctant to comment.
“We’re all fishing in the same sea and so naturally there’s been rumour and discussion about it for years,” he told Pollstar.
If the rumours are true, there’s unlikely to be any official announcement until after the IDKV’s next meeting at Berlin’s Maritim Proarte Hotel at the beginning of November.
