Meat Loaf’s Health Scare

A trip to the U.K. to attend the Q Awards led toMeat Loaf spending three days in a London hospital.

The 57-year-old rocker had appeared a little unsteady when making his acceptance speech at the Oct. 6 ceremony, where his “Bat Out Of Hell” had won the classic song category, and was immediately whisked off to a private hospital near the city centre.

Publicist Kirt Webster said the star had been taken in for “testing and evaluation” but didn’t elaborate on why he was hospitalized.

Media reports that speculated the problem could have been “a balance disorder.”

He’s been shipped back to the U.S. and was expected to play the two Florida shows he was scheduled for Oct. 17-18.

In November, Meat Loaf cut his set short at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena because of illness, and The Northern Echo reported that about 100 fans intended to pursue a collective civil claim against him.

The remaining half-dozen U.K. shows were canceled and the next set of dates soon followed suit.
