When it comes to Punk Rock Karaoke, the first thing we should mention is the lineup – guitarist and emcee Eric Melvin (NOFX), guitarist Greg Hetson (Bad Religion / Circle Jerks / Red Kross), drummer Derek O’Brien (Social Distortion / Adolescents / DI) and bassist Steve Soto (Adolescents / Agent Orange / 22 Jacks). The 2nd thing is audience participation, for just like karaoke machines the idea is for audience members to get up on stage and treat the world to their vocal renditions of famous songs. Or in this case, famous punk tunes. New dates for Punk Rock Karaoke are November 2 in Los Angeles at The Roxy, November 3 in Sacramento at the Blue Lamp and November 5 in San Francisco at Thee Parkside. There’s also a Punk Rock Karaoke CD coming out on October 28.
Brit comedian and VMA host Russell Brand updates today with new listings for both sides of the pond. On this side look for Mr. Brand playing New York at El Museo del Barrio on November 13 & 14. U.K. dates for the other side of the Atlantic include February 5 in Manchester at Apollo Manchester, a Glasgow date – February 15 at Clyde Auditorium – and three nights in London; February 7 & 13 at Apollo Hammersmith and February 11 at Carling Academy Brixton.
Stereo Reform loads up on club dates for November and December, playing Phoenix on November 8 at The Music Room, Austin on November 20 at Headhunters Tiki Bar, Atlanta on November 25 at Smith’s Olde Bar andd Knoxville on December 9 at Preservation Pub. Other towns on the routing include Albuquerque, Baton Rouge and Charleston.
During the past couple of hours we also updated the schedules for Seven Mary Three, The Elms, The Cosmo Sonics, The Lee Boys, Tom Rush, The Smokin’ Joe Kubek Band feat. Bnois King and Wednesday 13.
But we have two more hours of concert data research, data processing, data vetting and data bloodletting before our corporate overlords blindfold us, drive us to the center of some unfamiliar town and dump us off in the street sans wallets, cash and stash. And that means one last update of the day – The Closing Bell – posting sometime around 5 pm (PDT) on Pollstar.com!
