Poison Trooper Plea
A Kentucky State Police trooper will head to court Dec. 15 after being arrested in July following a Poison concert in Pikeville.
Court documents claim that, when leaving the July 20 concert at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center, off-duty Sgt. Timothy Moore was arrested after getting into an argument with Pikeville Police Officer Tony Conn, according to the Appalachian News Express. He reportedly used anti-gay insults to describe Conn and told the officer he wasn’t afraid of him.
Moore got into his car and tried to drive away but was physically removed and arrested after being told four times to get out of his vehicle.
Moore was charged with alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, the paper reported.
A 10-year veteran of Kentucky State Police, Moore was suspended with pay.
Defense attorneys told a judge in an evidentiary hearing Oct. 14 they believe Moore may have been targeted for arrest.
Moore’s attorney, Terry Jacobs, asked Pike District Judge Kelsey Friend to order the city’s police department to turn over 911 call records and radio transmissions from the day of Moore’s arrest.
