But don’t despair, there’s one bright spot in the oncoming holiday onslaught, Aimee Mann‘s third annual holiday tour!

The singer, who is currently on tour in the U.K. and Europe in support of latest release @#%&! Smilers, will kick off the festivities December 5 at Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, Calif.

Lucky revelers in places like Los Angeles; San Francisco; Sommerville, Mass.; Alexandria, Va.; and New York City will once again get to enjoy Mann’s homage to the holiday variety shows of yesteryear.

The traveling pageant features a mix of music from the singer’s Christmas album, One More Drifter in the Snow, comedy from Paul F. Tompkins and Patton Oswalt – who will trade off hosting duties – and guests including Nellie McKay, Grant-Lee Phillips and comedian Morgan Murphy.

Snow, which was released in 2006, will be reissued November 10 with a new track, a cover of Joni Mitchell‘s “River.”

Mann said she and producer Paul Bryan used the classic Peanuts holiday special “A Charlie Brown Christmas” as a jumping off point when creating the album, with both the jazz-influenced Vince Guaraldi Trio soundtrack and tragi-comic Charlie Brown as influences.

“Another major influence for me was the Johnny Mathis Christmas album, which was a record I heard as a kid in my house every Christmas, and almost came to be the archetypical Christmas record for me,” the singer explained. “That’s why I wanted to make sure at least half of the songs on the record were classic Christmas standards that everybody knows.”
