Mötley Crüe Gives Newbies A Leg Up
Mötley Crüe will give an unsigned band the opportunity to step into the national spotlight when its picks a winner in the “Guitar Center On-Stage: Mötley Crüe – Your Chance to Make Rock History” competition tonight at Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles.
Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars will watch six finalists, chosen from a pool of 30 semifinalists, perform. The band will decide which hopeful will walk away with the opening spot on the Crüe’s 2009 U.S. tour, $25,000 in cash, $20,000 in new gear from Gibson Guitar and contracts with Mötley Crüe’s management and record label.
The finalists six are: The Spitting Cobras (Seattle), Lorene Drive (Victorville, Ca.), The Dirty Pearls (New York City), Waterstreet (Peoria, Ill.), The Heroine (San Antonio, Texas) and The Last Vegas (Chicago).
The event is open to the public, with doors opening at 7 p.m. PST and the first band taking the stage at 7:30 p.m.
