Tough Shed For Alton

Alton, Ill., is expected to debut a 4,000-capacity amphitheatre next year.

The shed, built in Riverfront Park, cost taxpayers a cool $4.4 million. A Teflon-coated top was expected to be attached to the metal roof frame by as early as Nov. 8, according to the city’s Telegraph newspaper.

City leaders expect the venue, a recreational facility inside the park, to host concerts and officials reportedly are talking with Emmis Communications about bringing in shows. Alton’s nearest major market is St. Louis, Mo.
