A 1982 Jean-Michel Basquiat painting previously owned by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has sold at a Christie’s auction in New York City for $13.5 million.

The painting, “Untitled (Boxer),” portrays a black heavyweight fighter with his arms raised in the air.

While the painting surpassed its pre-auction estimate of more than $12 million, it failed to break the record for a Basquiat, which was $14.6 million for another work called “Untitled” that sold last year.
