The story first appeared in The Independent’s Pandora column, in which Henry Deedes reports how he bumped into Stewart as the 10th anniversary of Claridge’s Bar in London Nov. 11.

Deedes said Stewart and fellow original band member Ronnie Wood would get a “tidy windfall” and both of them could do with the cash.

Deedes pointed out that Wood is facing a costly divorce from his wife Jo after “he eloped with a 20-year-old Russian girl.”
He also said Stewart replied “Yeah, course it has,” when asked if the financial crisis has hit him in the pocket.

In the first half of the 1970s, Faces released four studio albums and was among the top-grossing live acts of the period.

Entertainment newswires also report U.K. pop/rock outfit Ultravox’s 1980s lineup will reunite for a 2009 tour, marking this version of the band’s first performance since Live Aid in 1985.

Drummer Warren Cann, bassist Chris Cross, violinist/keyboardist Billy Currie and guitarist/vocalist Midge Ure will play 14 dates beginning April 10 in Edinburgh.

For now, the itinerary is limited to the United Kingdom and includes shows in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, London and Brighton.
