Citizen Cope Heads South
Citizen Cope, aka singer/songwriter Clarence Greenwood, has unveiled a slate of early 2009 dates that will see him on the road with a full band in the South through late winter.
Cope, who is expected to release a new acoustic solo album before the end of the year, kicks off the run Jan. 27 at Recher Theatre in Towson, Md.
Notable stops on the trek include The National in Richmond, Va. (Jan. 30), The Lyric Oxford in Mississippi (Feb. 9), Stubb’s Bar-B-Q/Waller Creek Amphitheatre in Austin (Feb. 14), Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, La. (Feb. 17), Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg, Fla. (Feb. 21) and NorVa in Norfolk, Va. (Feb. 28).

As no release date has been finalized for Cope’s next album, fans anxious to hear new material will have to make do with his guest turn on the track “Burnin Love” on Dido’s latest, Safe Trip Home.
