Experiencing British Music

The music industry is full of those “you should have been there” moments and a new museum opening in London in March will give fans the chance to feel like they actually were at the show.

The British Music Experience at the O2 Arena will feature memorabilia, costumes and instruments used by top British acts in an interactive setting.

Items that have been loaned to the museum so far include Roger Daltrey of The Who’s Woodstock outfit, a David Bowie ”Ziggy Stardust” costume and Noel Gallagher’s Union Jack guitar, according to BBC News.

The artifacts will come to life through audio-visual displays featuring interviews and performance footage, while interactive exhibits will allow visitors to explore the history of modern British music, play instruments, record songs, dance and perform in a virtual concert.

UK impresario Harvey Goldsmith will chair the museum’s foundation, which will oversee the development of future exhibitions, content, education and authenticity at the BME. Bob Santelli, who’s worked on music exhibitions including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, has been named chief curator.
