Management originally refused to remove the brick from the club’s wall of fame, claiming it was a historical document, but a call from a Merseyside MP and a consultation with a child abuse victim has changed all that.

A chisel removed the name of Glitter, a convicted pedophile, which was replaced with a brick for Pete Wylie, lead singer of the Mighty Wah!

“I didn’t think [Glitter] was a good role model and I wouldn’t myself have wanted to put his name up,” West Derby MP Bob Wareing told the Telegraph newspaper. “I understand the club wanting to put across the history of the Cavern club and really not leaving anything out. But on the other hand, this is a special case.”
