Lil’ Wayne Refunds Ordered
An Oct. 26 Lil’ Wayne show at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y., where the performer failed to show up, was rescheduled to Dec. 6. Now that show has been postponed as well.
“Both Blue Cross Arena and Lil Wayne’s promoters are doing the right thing by refunding Rochester-area fans who purchased tickets to a performance that never took place,” Cuomo said in a statement issued by his office Nov. 26. “Failing to show up as advertised without prior notice is unfair to fans and the only acceptable resolution is to offer a full refund.”
A spokeswoman for the rapper told AllHipHop.com that “Lil’ Wayne has not canceled the Rochester, New York Blue Cross Arena performance. Failure to provide adequate equipment per a signed agreement caused the Oct. 26 concert dates to be postponed.”
Both Lil’ Wayne and the local promoter deflected criticism over the postponements, with reps from both camps issuing statements.
Lil’ Wayne’s camp said he pulled out of the Oct. 26 show because of substandard audio equipment. And the Dec. 6 rescheduled date conflicted with rehearsals for his upcoming I Am Music tour.
Ed Strickland of RMF Productions said he is confident he will still bring Lil’ Wayne to Rochester.
“I was hoping to get a call any minute,” he told the Democrat and Chronicle.
“We’re going to start fresh, with all new tickets. I’m thinking of the people,” he said, adding that he believed there was evidence of improper resales of canceled tickets.
