Rock Wit Japan

Janet Jackson is bringing her “Rock Witchu” tour to Japan.

Tickets recently went on sale for two Jackson concerts at the Saitama Super Arena, one of the biggest venues in Japan, in mid-February. More February dates are coming, according to Japan Today.

Jackson canceled some of her recent U.S. concerts citing health reasons, though some Internet commentators have suggested tickets for those shows were not moving fast enough. Postponed dates were not rescheduled.

Jackson’s people might find comfort in the fact that Beyonce’s latest album, I Am…Sasha Fierce, went directly to No. 1 in Japan upon its November release, proving that American R&B acts are still top sellers in Japan.

February will see quite a few big-name Western acts coming to Japan. Eric Clapton is making his biannual Budokan stand in February as well. He will play seven shows at the martial arts arena after playing a pair of concerts at Osaka Castle Hall.

He’ll compete for fans with another ’60s guitar God, Jeff Beck, who will do four arena-sized shows in the Tokyo area in early February.

Meanwhile, Coldplay quickly sold out its Feb. 12 show at Saitama Super Arena and has just added another one for Feb. 11.
Travis will play the cavernous Tokyo International Forum Feb. 27.

March isn’t too shabby either. Rod Stewart will bring his Greatest Hits extravaganza to both Budokan and Saitama; while Oasis will close out the month with two shows at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center.
