The Friends Of The Bruce Springsteen Special Collection, who took books, articles and tour programs from the library to be microfilmed, apparently took their time returning the goods over concerns that conditions at the library weren’t up to snuff.

“We’ve attempted to resolve these concerns, and while doing so, felt it was in the best interests of the Collection for us to retain possession of over a thousand documents taken from the Library for microfilming, rather than return them to what may be an unsuitable environment,” the group said on its Web site.

The group claims the Boss’ docs are owned by them, but the library, in filing its police complaint against two members of the Friends, obviously disagrees.
Charges will reportedly be dropped if all the returned memorabilia appears to be in good shape.
