Double New Year

Lynyrd Skynyrd and Trace Adkins were expected to celebrate New Year’s Eve twice, playing at the stroke of midnight at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center in Pikeville, Ky., then crossing over into Central Standard Time and playing Sommet Center in Nashville, with the artists swapping closing slots.

Things got “easier” Dec. 10 when AEG Live announced the Nashville gig was canceled because of low ticket sales, citing the sinking economy.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is still set to play Pikeville, but Adkins and the original opening acts are off the bill, with 38 Special picking up the slack.
