Jayhawks Reunite (Sort Of)
There are countless under-appreciated American bands in music history and The Jayhawks are certainly one of the toppers. The Americana group never seemed to get its due and has been put into cold storage. Olson was the band’s original songwriter. Louris started to collaborate, then took over songwriting duties upon Olson’s exit in 1995.
The two friends have been playing together for a while now and cut Ready for the Flood last year. It drops in the U.S. on Jan. 27, but the U.K. music press has already given it accolades. Uncut, Q and Mojo gave the album four stars. Mojo named it Americana Album of the Year and Q dubbed it Best Roots Album. Paste also gushed about Flood.
The dates begin Feb. 3 in Ann Arbor, Mich., and the acoustic tour travels through New York City, Atlanta,, Nashville, Louisville, St. Louis, Chicago and other cities before the duo goes to their hometown of Minneapolis Feb. 21.
