The band will launch the run Feb. 11 at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis and will hit clubs across the country before closing up shop March 7 at Neumos in Seattle.
Stops of note include Magic Stick in Detroit (Feb. 13), Paradise Rock Club in Boston (Feb. 15), Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia (Feb. 18), 40 Watt Club in Athens, Ga. (Feb. 21), Club Downunder in Tallahassee, Fla. (Feb. 24), Palladium Ballroom in Dallas (Feb. 28), EcoPlex in Los Angeles (March 3), and Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, Ore. (March 6).
Fujiya & Miyagi came together as a duo in 2000 when David Best (guitars, vocals) and Steve Lewis (synths, beats, programming) met and discovered they shared a love of krautrock, early ’90s electronica and world heavyweight wrestler Kendo Nagasaki.
Since then the pair has added bass player Matt Hainsby and drummer Lee Adams to flesh out the group’s sound, which has drawn praise from critics across the country for combining krautrock musical precision with quirky lyrics.
The video for the band’s latest single, “Sore Thumbs,” was directed by New Zealand videographer Wade Shotter.
