Bonnaroo, Free of Charge

Bonnaroo’s Web site continues to add content and, starting yesterday, it’s beginning to build a virtual music village.

No doubt the folks at Bonnaroo are heading in the right direction with Bonnaroo Live 365, which is part Wolfgang’s Vault, another part Hulu.com and a bit of old Napster, too.

The first installment of the program begins Jan. 11, free of charge at Bonnaroo.com, with highlights of The Raconteurs 2008 performance at the event. All performance footage will be taken directly from the festival’s master tapes, according to a statement, and the audio will be remixed from the soundboard recordings. Four of the songs will be available as free audio downloads – three to Bonnaroo Community members (free signup) and one to the general public.

The full set will be available in streaming video and radio stations across the country are expected to broadcast the entire set come Jan. 11. However, the Web site is already streaming one song from the performance and has been since yesterday, Jan. 8.

Now if they can only pipe through the scent of the audience.
