The band’s 30-plus show itinerary includes plenty of headlining dates, as well as support slots for The Black Keys, Andrew Bird and Gaslight Anthem.

The tour gets rolling with a headliner Jan. 30 at Young Avenue Deli in Memphis and runs through late April.

Other notable stops include Electric Factory in Philadelphia (Feb. 5); Government Street Grocery in Ocean Springs, Miss. (Feb. 13); The Pageant in St. Louis (March 15); House of Blues in Houston (March 21); The Bottom Lounge in Chicago (April 3); The Plaza club in Vancouver (April 10); and Gothic Theatre near Denver (April 24).

When the time came to begin writing and recording The Mountain, Heartless Bastards frontwoman Erika Wennerstrom relocated to Austin for a change of scenery.

With a little assistance from producer Mike McCarthy (Spoon, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead) she put together a band that features some familiar faces: original HB drummer Dave Colvin and bassist Jesse Elbaugh, who played on the group’s demo for Fat Possum Records.

The result is an album that combines Wennerstrom’s powerful vocals, which Rolling Stone said sounds like she’s “wailing on the shoulders of giants,” with mandolins, banjos and strings.
