Them Boots Of Chinese Plastic

What do you get when you mix The Pretenders with PETA and YouTube? A contest!

That’s the skinny on how to meet up with Chrissie Hynde and her band. The Pretenders have joined with The People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and YouTube to ask fans to create videos of themselves lip synching to “Boots of Chinese Plastic,” from the band’s latest album, Break Up The Concrete.

The Pretenders will judge all submitted videos. The winner will be flown to Los Angeles to perform the winning version in the band’s video for the track.

Along with moving their lips to Hynde’s singing, fans are asked to show off their boots or shoes made of plastic (rather than leather). Don’t have foot apparel made of plastic? Better find a pair real quick, then visit The Pretenders’ Web site for more information.

“This is a fun way to raise awareness for a very serious cause,” said Hynde, a PETA member. “We are looking forward to seeing our fans and animal loving friends perform ‘Boots of Chinese Plastic’ via YouTube.”
