Fall Out Boy, Tour Deux Jour
The band is heading out with Cobra Starship, Metro Station, All Time Low and Hey Monday, kicking off “The Believers Never Die Part Deux Tour” in Phoenix April 3 and staying on the road until at least May 17 when the trek stops in Minneapolis.
And no doubt Fall Out Boy’s association with Island Def Jam means hitting the road with some marketing initiatives. The band is on the cover of the new Blender and you can’t swing a dead cat around without hitting a review of Folie à Deux
Still, the tour didn’t need to be announced with both guns blazing. Fall Out Boy has its own Web site of the most zealous of fans, the Overcast Kids. Those that are members of the official FOB fan club already know about the tour and will be at Overcastkids.com come Jan. 21 to purchase tickets before the general onsale, which begins Jan. 31.
Fall Out Boy has never had to make a big production out of anything. Since its inception, the band has thrived on its Internet-weaned fans, who took it upon themselves to help turn the band into rock stars. Even Pete Wentz told Pollstar in 2005 that the fans were responsible.
“You couldn’t have made this street team. You couldn’t have written a marketing plan like this if you tried,” he said. “We weren’t at the wheel, really. We were, kind of, but all these kids were doing it on their own and steering its destiny.”
Nothing’s changed, we thinks.
