Name That Band

U.K. duo The Ting Tings has unveiled plans for a spring tour of North America in support of its debut release We Started Nothing.

Katie White and Jules Martino will kick off the trek March 16 at New York City’s Webster Hall and hit clubs and theatres through mid-April.

Stops along the way include Sanctuary in Philadelphia (March 19), NorVa in Norfolk, Va. (March 23), Ultra Music Festival in Miami’s Bicentennial Park (March 27), WorkPlay Theatre in Birmingham, Ala. (April 2), Varsity Theater in Minneapolis (April 6), Urban Lounge in Salt Lake City (April 9), and The Fillmore in San Francisco (April 15).

The Ting Tings emerged from the ashes of U.K. band Dear Eskimo, after White and Martino holed up at their home in an artists’ community near Manchester’s city center and began writing songs to play solely for themselves and friends.

Word of mouth about the duo’s energetic live performances quickly spread and the pair found themselves courted by labels, managers and agents.

We Started Nothing shot straight to the top of the U.K. charts when it was released early last year thanks to upbeat, catchy tracks like “Shut Up and Let Me Go,” “Great DJ” and “That’s Not My Name,” which will be released as a single in the U.S. later this month.

Music from the album has been featured on a number of television shows including “Ugly Betty,” “CSI: NY,” “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” “Gossip Girl,” Paris Hilton’s “My New BFF,” VH1’s “Best Week Ever” and “Numb3rs.”

Other tracks have found their way into films like “American Teen,” “He’s Just Not That Into You” and Golden Globe-winning “Slumdog Millionaire.”
