They’re known as the 5 Browns and they’re likely the biggest thing to hit classical piano since Van Cliburn.

Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae are the first and only five siblings to ever attend Julliard at the same time in the century since the famous music school began. The five young pianists have been featured in the New York Times and on the BBC. The CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes” has aired its feature on the 5 Browns five times to date. Oprah Winfrey called them the “chosen few.”

They’re “five young Mormons who all play scorching piano,” Entertainment Weekly said. “Thundering down on five Steinways together, they’re button-down cute and somewhat otherworldly.”

They even have their own autobiography out, “Live Between The Keys.”

Starting Feb. 12, the family goes on a tour of performing arts centers and other venues like Proctors Hall in Schenectady, N.Y.; the Marin Center in San Rafael, Calif.; and the Kerrville Performing Arts Society in Kerrville, Texas. They wrap things up with the Dallas Symphony May 14-16.

“If concertgoers come into a 5 Browns show uninformed about classical music … those same fans leave wanting to become aficionados,” the Associated Press noted.
