The band will warm up with a headlining swing through Japan, with stops in Nagoya, Tokyo and Osaka, and Australia, where they’ll hit Freemantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Newtown and Brisbane.

Death Cab’s U.S. adventure begins with a March 7 appearance at the Langerado Music Festival in Miami’s Bicentennial Park and wraps May 6 at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.

Other gigs of note include April 8 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C, April 17 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom, April 24 at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., and May 4 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

Ra Ra Riot will be on hand for the duration of the tour, with Cold War Kids also on the bill through April and Matt Costa aboard for the last week of dates.

Stairs, which hit the streets last April, scored Death Cab its first No. 1 spot on the album charts, as well as a pair of Grammy nominations for best alternative music album and best rock song for lead single “I Will Possess Your Heart.”

The disc also landed at No. 5 on NPR’s annual “All Songs Considered” poll, with the caveat “Narrow Stairs isn’t Death Cab for Cutie’s easiest album to get to know … it requires and rewards a bit more dissection.”
