In Concert And On Your Desktop

Fab internet concert site Fabchannel.com, which webcasts from Amsterdam’s Paradiso and Melkweg on a weekly basis, has hooked Pollstar users up with a couple of exclusive live tracks from Americana singer/songwriter James McMurtry.

The tracks are taken from a Jan. 27 show at Paradiso that was streamed live the night of the performance and will eventually find its way into Fabchannel’s archive of 1,000 full-length concert recordings.

Upcoming shows on Fabchannel’s schedule include a Jan. 31 set by hip-hop pioneer Kool Moe Dee that starts at 10:45 p.m. GMT.

And be sure to keep an eye on this space. In the coming weeks, Pollstar will be introducing more live, high-quality concerts from the Fabchannel archive featuring acts like Of Montreal, MGMT, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, The Fratellis, Diplo, De La Soul, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Paul Weller, Calexico, Iron and Wine, Drive-By Truckers and many more.

McMurtry, son of novelist Larry McMurtry, began playing guitar when he was seven, but got his big break in 1987 when a script his father was working on provided him with the chance to show his stuff to John Mellencamp.

Mellencamp was impressed by what he heard and co-produced the singer’s 1989 debut, Too Long In The Wasteland.
