Streamin’ & Peakin’
Conceived by Allman drummer Butch Trucks, Moogis will stream each night of the group’s 15 shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre, after which, the shows will be archived for viewing until Sept. 30 for subscribers.
That’s right. Subscribers. Moogis isn’t a free lunch. Subscriptions currently cost $100, a price that will rise to $125 after Feb. 15.
What is Moogis?
Conceived five years ago by Trucks, Moogis offers streaming video of live concerts as well as a social networking environment built around concerts. The “Moogis” moniker comes from the days when Trucks’ son used to say “moogis” for when he meant to say “music.”
“We’re bringing the show right into your living room from a number of different perspectives,” Trucks said.
“At 15 nights, three hours per show, Moogis promises to play host to the longest continuous concert stream in the history of the Internet. I firmly believe that the best avenue to experience new music in the 21st century is via the Internet.”
