Interpol Checks Fake Agent

Interpol is checking the Latvian bank account used by the mysterious bogus agent who tried to sell Depeche Mode shows by pretending to be Andrew Zweck.

The real Andrew Zweck brought the matter to Pollstar’s attention before Christmas, after an Israeli promoter came within hours of handing over a euro 150,000 deposit for a Tel Aviv show.

Zweck is concerned the fake agent, who used an e-mail address very similar to his own, will fool someone into handing over money to secure a show that won’t happen.

The matter came to the attention of Zweck’s Sensible Events, a Live Nation company, when an Israeli contact commented on the fact Depeche Mode was playing two shows in his country. Zweck’s staff knew the only confirmed show is a co-production between German promoter Marek Lieberberg and Israeli promoter Shuki Weiss at Tel Aviv’s Ramat Gan Stadium May 10.

The fake show was scheduled for a May 9 in the Caesaria Amphitheatre in Kessaria.
