Costello died of an accidental drug overdose last April, according to authorities, on the eve of his 29th birthday. He battled depression for about 10 years and had recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder when he died.

The Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research will feature Living Blues Award-winner Lurrie Bell, The Wood Brothers, King Johnson, Felix & The Cats and others.

The musician had toured North America and Europe, but his star was still on the rise when he died. He played with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Elvis Costello, Etta James, Bo Diddley and many others. His scorching performances can be seen on YouTube.
